Post #6 Texting while driving laws not helping

Read about a study determining if the "texting while driving laws" are actually helping or hurting.  The study was done in 4 states; California, Minnesota, Louisiana, and Washington.  The study actually found that crashes increased because of people hiding their phone in places where cops wouldn't be able to see, instead of keeping the phone up near their face where they could see the road and the phone.  This is funny to me because you hear people gripe and groan about people texting while driving.  While I think it is a problem, making a law preventing people from doing something they are probably going to do anyways, isn't the solution.  Read more here...

  3. Talking about the subject , I think texting will do more harm then talking. Talking doesnt really give your eyes attention to anything else. While texting keeps you from looking at the road.

Calling can be done while constantly looking at the road.
    So

No cellphone > talking > texting

  5. I used to text sometimes while driving. Honestly, its suicide, and anyone texting while driving really does deserve to crash. Including me. Though my car's fucked up enough already.

  9. Yeah, everyone just hides it down toward their lap. I doubt a law against texting will really make anyone stop

  12. I really don't see what could be so important that you would WANT to text while driving.

The safety of yourself and your passengers should be top priority.

  16. so true man. they should just let people talk on the phone while driving. its much safer than texting, imo.

  17. I think the best route to take on this issue is to make the technology that allows people to talk through their radio cheap and available. It completely removes the phone from people`s hands and keeps their eyes on the road.
