Read about a study determining if the "texting while driving laws" are actually helping or hurting. The study was done in 4 states; California, Minnesota, Louisiana, and Washington. The study actually found that crashes increased because of people hiding their phone in places where cops wouldn't be able to see, instead of keeping the phone up near their face where they could see the road and the phone. This is funny to me because you hear people gripe and groan about people texting while driving. While I think it is a problem, making a law preventing people from doing something they are probably going to do anyways, isn't the solution. Read more

Although I agree, there isn't much else we can do again text-drivers...
ReplyDeleteinteresting study, though!
there's good information here
ReplyDeletethis seems to be the problem with all laws isn't it
ReplyDeleteTalking about the subject , I think texting will do more harm then talking. Talking doesnt really give your eyes attention to anything else. While texting keeps you from looking at the road.
ReplyDeleteCalling can be done while constantly looking at the road.
So
No cellphone > talking > texting
actually... in New York... They have very strict laws upstate. One person got a year in prison for texting while driving!
ReplyDeleteI used to text sometimes while driving. Honestly, its suicide, and anyone texting while driving really does deserve to crash. Including me. Though my car's fucked up enough already.
ReplyDeletei agree with what santios said. i've had numerous near death experiences while texting while driving.
ReplyDeleteHead about this on autoblog. (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/28/iihs-new-texting-laws-arent-reducing-accidents/)
ReplyDeleteIts pretty crazy situation.
Cell phone law is in effect here where I live in BC, not sure if it's helped any, I still see em...
ReplyDeleteYeah, everyone just hides it down toward their lap. I doubt a law against texting will really make anyone stop
ReplyDeletewe're moving more and more to a police state...
ReplyDeleteGreat article, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI wish in the car with my friends dad on the highway and he was texting going 85mph I was freaking out lmao
ReplyDeleteI really don't see what could be so important that you would WANT to text while driving.
ReplyDeleteThe safety of yourself and your passengers should be top priority.
such a stupid thing to do, hope people wise up
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise, they need to crack down harder
ReplyDeletesimply dont drive and talk on the phone x.x
ReplyDeleteso true man. they should just let people talk on the phone while driving. its much safer than texting, imo.
ReplyDeleteI think the best route to take on this issue is to make the technology that allows people to talk through their radio cheap and available. It completely removes the phone from people`s hands and keeps their eyes on the road.
